Separate planning from doing

by | PRODUCTIVITY | 0 comments

separate planning from doing.

There are two very different people living inside you. The planner and the doer. If you put the two of them in the room together, prepare for some tug o’ war.

Keep the peace and separate these two creatures…

Schedule yourself planning time where you dream big and lay out action plans.
You can think of this time as you CEO time, when you are the big-boss making big plans.

Schedule separate time where your one task is to work the plan and do the work.
You can think of this time as your worker-bee time. This is when you keep your head down and grind away.

Don’t waste your precious time ready to work only to spend an hour just figuring out what you should be doing. This time spent wandering, your day is a huge waste of time and you will tend to not do what needs to get done. It’s like going grocery shopping with a list vs. walking down the aisles starving.

“Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.”

-Paul J. Meyer

Make the best use of your time giving yourself separate time to plan and separate time to do the work.

No more blindly wandering the aisles of your day.
