6 Simple Ways To Get More Engagement
Content marketing is a fantastic way to attract the attention of your target audience, but the real key is to get them to engage with your content.
But how do you engage through a blog, video, or social media post?
One way to engage with your audience is to ask them questions in your content. A direct question addressed to your audience, gets them thinking, and encourages them to actually respond. If done skillfully, you can turn every post into a lively conversation.
This gives you a great opportunity to interact with your audience. And the more interaction, the more chance for them to know, like, and trust you.
But what kinds of questions should you ask them? Here are six simple ideas to get you started.
1. Ask for their opinions.
Ask your audience for their opinion on a hotly controversial issue. You can take a recent news event or a current issue where there are opposing opinions in your market (for example, whether or not you should use a certain type of cleaning product).
2. Ask how they overcame a common problem.
Take a common challenge that your readers often face and ask them how they overcame the problem. For example, if your audience consists of parents, ask them how they find time to get their kids shuttled around to events and still find time to cook a healthy meal.
3. Ask them how you’re doing.
You can use your social media and your blog as a way of gathering feedback. Ask your audience how they’re doing.
Has your content been helpful?
What type of content would they like to see more of from you?
Did your service or product solve their problems?
What changes could improve your content or your services?
4. Ask them, “Did you know?”
A great way to share a little-known tidbit with your audience is to present it to them as a question.
Ask your audience whether or not they knew about it and what is their opinion of it is? This can easily spark a discussion based on the topic.
5. Ask what their favorites are.
A good conversation starter is to ask your audience what is their favorite of something. For example, you might ask your restaurant audience, “What’s your favorite appetizer?” Each person will give you their favorite, and many will give you the reasons why and this can lead to lively discussions and disagreements.
6. Ask about their experience.
Ask your readers about a past experience that stands out for them. Choose an experience on any specific topic. You can even ask about a major achievement or even a hard lesson they learned.
As a general rule, it’s best to ask open-ended questions rather than simple yes-no questions. If you do ask a yes or no question, you’ll end up with most people simply replying just “yes” or “no.” Asking open-ended questions will lead your readers to discuss more and get even deeper into your topic.
