5 Tricks for Creating Goals you Reach. The fourth one was a game changer for me
January rolls around and we all set these lofty goals for the year.
Lose 30 pounds here.
Write a book there.
Make $30k a month.
Then March rolls around and, well they just don’t seem to happen.
What the heck? Are we self-sabotaging ourselves from the start?
The answer is yes. And I am here to give you some tricks to help you set goals you actually reach from now on.
Sure we all say we want to lose 30 pounds or write a book, but what is the real goal?
There are two things we need to look at first.
What is your motivation?
What is your vision?
Motivation and Your Why
So what is motivating you to lose weight or write a book, start a business or blog every day?
What is your “why?”
If it is to lose weight your motivation may be confident to take your kids to the pool in a swimsuit or lowering your cholesterol.
Once you figure out your purpose you can move on to your vision.
Your Short and Long Term Vision
Next step is to figure out our your vision.
What do you want to accomplish in the next year?
What about in the next five years?
I want to maintain my weight so I don’t have to purchase new sized clothes, I want to remain healthy and active and I want to not get sick.
I would never say that my long term vision is to lose weight. My long term vision is to live a healthy life.
MICRO goals
Next, you can start to set goals that will help you move toward your vision. But these are goals with rules. MICRO rules.
MEASURABLE Set measurable goals so that you can track your progress
INSPIRATIONAL Set inspirational goals that motivate you and give you a reason to invest both your time and your effort.
CONCRETE Set concrete goals that are definite and clearly define what you want to accomplish.
REALISTIC Set realistic goals that not only work with your personality but with your lifestyle as well.
OBTAINABLE Set obtainable goals so you are able to reach them without being discouraged
MICRO goals will help you move toward your vision one step at a time.
Starting a business & setting goals
When starting a business, setting goals is important in giving you and your fledgling business direction. They can lead your beginning days and even months by giving you clear steps to what you need to do next. And then next.
Reshaping and reworking your motivation and vision can guide you year after year to get the business you really want. That is the best part of having your own business. You make the rules. You make the business that you want.
Setting MICRO goals will help you get the business you want.
I have created this FREE downloadable PDF worksheet to help you set your MICRO goals.
Here’s to your happy, healthy, balanced and successful life. The life of your dreams.
