Define Your Sales Process

Inside the Smart Arsenal we dive deep into the exact steps to creating your SMART Marketing system. One of the first steps is to define your Sales process. I want to give you a peek and a head start on getting SMART with your marketing.

Documenting your sales process is an exercise you don’t want to skip. It ensures you are not missing a step and leaving money on the table or potential customers hanging. Watch the video and then take all action steps below.

2. Use the downloadable document to get you started (link to document – go to file and make a copy for yourself)

3. Add more steps as necessary to fully fill out for each section. 

For example, for Miles Through Time.

ENTRY POINT (EX. Referral, walk-in, website, call, email, etc.): Walk-in

WHAT HAPPENS? They are greeted. “How are you doing today?” 

WHAT NEXT: After, ask them how they heard about the museum (note down)

WHAT NEXT? As they are paying, explain short museum history and rules.

WHAT NEXT? Hand museum map and guide. Point out a couple of exhibits and scavenger hunt on back.

WHAT NEXT? Show them QR code where they can leave us a review.

HOW DO THEY GET ON MY EMAIL LIST? Tell them about an event coming up at the museum and that they can follow us on social media and sign up for the list (link is on guide)

WHAT IS THE FOLLOW-UP IF THEY DON’T BUY NOW? Give them a rack card, tell them about an event coming up at the museum and that they can follow us on social media and sign up for the list (link is on guide) to get notified and we hope to see them there.

HOW CAN I WOW THEM? If any of the owners are there, let them know they can talk to them inside (guided tour at no extra charge.) 

Your sales process is something that should be revisited and refined over time. How can you make it just a little better? For the above for Miles Through Time, there are still some missing points:

1. There was no upsell to an annual pass, or mention of it. 
2. The gift shop was not mentioned – how do you get them to buy? 

Maybe these should be worked into the process when they leave? Or maybe there is a better time?

It’s an ongoing process, as yours will be as well and you can always make it just a little bit better.
