The Best Way to Build A Website
If you’re in business, a website is a must-have asset. It’s where potential customers will find you and decide if they want to do business with you. It’s usually the first place referrals will go to learn more about you. It’s also where you sell your products and services, get contact requests, brand yourself in your industry, and showcase your authority.
It could also be where you host webinars, offer group programs, publish your podcast, create your blog, and even set your appointments with customers.
Whew! That’s a whole lot of jobs for a single website to for your business. If you choose to use a versatile content management system such as WordPress you can easily incorporate all of that functionality and even more.
Fast and Easy Setup
In the time it takes you to finish your morning latte, you can have your website created and up on the Internet using WordPress. Many hosting companies offer “one-click installs” for WordPress, meaning it will take only about 5 minutes to get you up and running. From there, it’s a matter of choosing and customizing a theme and adding your content.
Even if you’re not super technically inclined, WordPress is pretty simple to use, and the reason we use it for all of our client’s website (and ours too). And with a helpful community of worldwide users, you can easily find the answer for anything from “how to install WordPress” to “how to create a membership site” with a simple Google search.
Your Website, Your Style
With thousands of premium and free WordPress themes available, it’s easy to find a style that’s just right for your brand and business. Want something a little more customized? Many themes (especially the premium themes) offer easy, drag-and-drop editing of website layouts, colors and more. If you want something designed more for you, there are website developers that will create a website that entirely fits your brand.
I always suggest premium themes, especially ones by Studio Press and Elegant Themes, because they keep their themes updated which is a big concern for your site long term. Premium themes also translate better to all the different mobile devices and desktop brands.
Greater Flexibility with Plugins
Originally created as a blogging platform, WordPress earned its early popularity by making somewhat technical chores easy for thousands of newbie bloggers. Today it’s no longer just a blogging tool, but is used by millions of businesses around the world to do this like:
• Shopping carts
• Sales pages
• Wikis
• Membership sites
• News sites
• Recipe sites
• Photography sites
• Podcasting
• Personal journals
• Online directories
• Non-profit fundraising
• And so many others
The combination of customizable themes and various plugins—small software that installs directly into your WordPress site—make the possibilities almost endless, so no matter what you need your website to do for you, chances are pretty good that WordPress will be able to handle it for you.
